Title: Practicum Supervisor, 92554 Assessment, Prescription and Delivery, Autumn Semester, 2021

Purpose / Objectives: To provide appropriate and expert supervision and teaching guidance to undergraduate sport and exercise students who are undertaking UTS organised practicum hours across two blocks - 1. Telepractice Clinic, and 2. with Project Based Learning (PBL) activities.

Availability: Multiple positions are available; morning (8.00am - 1.00pm) and afternoon (1.30pm - 6.30pm) shifts are timetabled; Clinic and PBL blocks run on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays

Practicum supervisors will:

  • Be available to work with the same small group/s (1:5 supervisor to student ratio) at the same time each week for the duration of the semester
  • Actively engage in the teaching and learning process to assist students to attain competency in exercise assessment, prescription and delivery with clients / on projects where the purpose of undertaking the exercise intervention is to improve client health and fitness, wellbeing or performance
  • Be responsible for professionally mentoring the students within allocated group/s
  • Oversee and guide students in good practice management organisation / administration processes using the established subject framework
  • Provide regular feedback to each student about strengths and areas for improvement as they work toward attaining their ESSA AES competencies
  • Document student progress using subject assessment criteria
  • Set and maintain high and realistic expectations of student performance that aligns to: the UTS Model of Learning; the UTS and ESSA Code of Conduct; and, the ESSA AES Scope of Practice
  • Be suitably qualified to deliver the service that you are being employed to supervise students for
  • Maintain consistent contact with subject coordinator and support staff
