Gnowangerup District High School (DHS) is looking for an enthusiastic - Physical Education and Health teacher who ideally also has a Science background to join their team.

The successful applicant will ideally have a highly developed professional and practical knowledge in Physical and Health Education as well as Science. You will possess strong teaching and classroom management skills, as well as being able to develop good relationships with students and engage them in highly effective learning. The successful applicant will engage in relevant professional learning with strong communication and interpersonal skills, working as a member of a vibrant and enthusiastic school team.

Situated in the town of Gnowangerup 350ks south east of Perth, the school sits near the Stirling Ranges. Gnowangerup is the centre for the farms in the district and more recently, the site of a number of industries. The school caters for students from Kindergarten through to Year 10, including the Early Childhood Centre for Kindergarten and Pre-primary children. Other facilities at the school include; a library resource centre, computer technology area, art and music rooms, a green oval, basketball courts and an undercover area.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position. 

To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):

  • Professional knowledge;
  • Professional practice; and
  • Professional engagement.
