Darling Range Sports College (SC) is seeking a dedicated and highly motivated individual to fill the position of Physical Education Teacher – Soccer Specialist Teacher.
Darling Range SC has a successful high profile specialist sports program with a significant public image and requires a specialist teacher to assume a leadership role not only in the teaching of the program, but also in the marketing and promotion of the program.
The role may entail after hours’ commitment to coaching, competition and interstate/international student tours. It also requires an applicant who will establish strong partnerships with parents and sporting associations both local and state level. The successful applicant will have strong communication and organisational skills, as well as the ability to be reflective of themselves and their practice.
Part of this role requires travel, applicants who hold a bus licence or are willing to obtain one are encouraged to apply. It is highly desirable that the successful applicant is currently involved in some capacity in the sport and hold a minimum Football Federation Australia (FFA) Youth ‘C’ Licence accreditation.
A major focus of the College is also the implementation of Explicit Instruction across all learning areas. Experience using Explicit Instruction, whilst not a pre-requisite, will be highly valued. The Applicant should be willing to incorporate this into their teaching practice and lead Explicit Instruction within the learning area.
Darling Range (SC) provides sporting programs in AFL, Athletics, Baseball, Basketball, Netball, Soccer, Swimming, Triathlon and Rugby. Complementing our sporting programs are extensive opportunities to participate in the Academic Challenge and Enrichment Program ‘ACES’, the Music Program, the Vocational Educational Program and the Arts Program.
Darling Range (SC) is a Positive Behaviour School (PBS) so an understanding of this process and how it is implemented and embedded in the day-to-day operations and behaviours in the school would be desirable.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):
- Professional knowledge;
- Professional practice; and
- Professional engagement.
